HEY!
So I guess I’ll start off with this: our mission just got
real. On Friday at the small city
next to us, Novosasisk (still like 5-6 hours away, haha), during a conversation
group at the branch, where we just have potentials and friends come who want to
practice English and we converse with each other – it is our most effective way
of getting people to the branch and making new friends. Well, during it, police stormed the
church with cameras and took the two Elders there to prison where they will be
there for 10 days – it was going to be a month, but they shortened it, and then
they will be deported and are banned for going back to Russia for 5 years. They
were set up to fail and had no chance. It’s really sad. They were both great elders and with
how few volunteers we have. Everyone is valuable, because we barely have enough
volunteers as it is to keep the fort up. They were training too, and it’s the kid’s
first transfer. Well, we are
optimistic about their future, but it will make the work once again harder
here. But what are you going to
do? Satan tries hard to do what he can but the harder he works the more of the
righteous and elect will come forth.
No barricade or obstacles no matter how impossible may seem at the time
had to never will stop the Lord’s work from moving forward. It’s exciting to be a part of it, and
its exciting to be amoungst the Lamanites to see the battle between good and
evil so clearly!
Well, when the bad gets worse, the good gets better. We
found a new investigator. He is
very hard to get through a lesson with because he interrupts every 10 seconds
and in one of those science guys who doesn’t comprehend faith, but he is a nice
guy and after lots of work I could see something happening. And we will take what we can get. ;)
So in our fun side project in Tuapce (a little city 3 hours
away), we went up with our branch president and HE and the Lord found a family;
grandma, mom, and daughter, to start teaching and another mom of 3 little
daughters, and we have more people from another new investigator. It will be exciting to see that little
group of 4 explode out of nowhere!
Saw a guy ninja kick this dude on the street.
Went to a concert to watch a member perform. At the end some crazy guy went on the
stage from the audience and started hugging the performers and making all these
announcements about how important he was.
It was just funny because they started turning off the lights and
cleaning and he was still on stage playing the piano and singing like a crazy
man. And then a babooshka walked up and threw his stuff onstage like a savage
old lady. It was so funny. I can’t explain. One of those moments.
Some other stuff happened but I forgot and if you are still
reading this far in my email, I’m always surprised. I will just give my appreciation on being such a dedicated
fan.
Much Love,
Elder VanBuskirk
Also, I will Skype you today if that’s ok. Go on SKYPE!
